Save the Children

http://www.savethechildren.org

Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. Recognized for our commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, our work takes us into the heart of communities, where we help children and families help themselves.

Mission and Results

Our Mission

Save the Children is the leading, independent organization creating lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. We are a member of the International Save the Children Alliance, comprising 27 national Save the Children organizations working in more than 120 countries to ensure the well-being of children.

The history of Save the Children is a story of positive change and people — millions of people in thousands of communities worldwide — working together to create opportunities for the world’s children to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.

Delivering Results

In order to continue to accomplish sustainable change, Save the Children has identified the following four priority goals for children:

1. Children are protected from harm through physical and psychosocial assistance

2. Children learn and develop with age-appropriate care and education

3. Children are healthy and well-nourished

4. Children thrive in food-secure and economically viable households

By tailoring our programs to achieve one or more of these goals we have evolved into a leading international relief and development organization, providing communities with a hand up, not a handout.

EFC Team donated $0.00 to Save the Children in March.

In March, EFC individual members donated
$ 10 to Rainbow Animal Connection

March 2009 Challenge Entry – A More Perfect Union Primitive Rug Hooked Pillow by LavenderWool

with one comment

A More Perfect Union Primitive Rug Hooked Pillow

A More Perfect Union Primitive Rug Hooked Pillow

LavenderWool ”A More Perfect Union” Pillow

Designed and hand hooked by the 4 sisters of Lavender Wool

Rug hooking is an early North American art form. When clothing could no longer be worn, women (most often) would creatively repurpose the material by tearing the clothing into strips and “hooking’ the strips into beautiful rugs.

We think this flag – made out of wool strips of different hues and textures – is a perfect symbol of “A more perfect union”. Unique and different parts that come together to make an amazing, wonderful whole!

At Lavender Wool we make these pillows expressly for donation purposes. The first flag pillow we made was inspired and hand hooked during the inauguration festivities. The pillow measures approximately 12×16 inches and has a removable insert.

I have brothers, sisters, nieces, uncles, and cousins of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on earth is my story even possible.”
Barack Obama ‘A More Perfect Union’

Thank you for buying hand-made for donation purposes.
